The hotel although not in Porto city center holds a quite good location, since it's in a 2' walking distance from several public means of transportation , like Campanha suburban train ( 1 stop from city center), Metro station (3 stops from city center), as also from Train central station and Bus central station connecting with rest Portuguese cities. In 50m from the hotel there is also a bus station. Location is quiet but also safe, we returned late at night have no worries at all. Hotel in overall looks quite new, everything is very clean and well taken cared. Personell was quite helpful with fast check in and check out process, while i noticed - although not used - that they offer parking service. Our room in the 2nd floor was in top level cleaness, spacious as also with big bathroom. All towels and bed linen seemed new , smelling freshness . Several plugs, good lighting and big allowing natural light windows! Good wifi connection! Breakfast in plentiness, with several choices of good quality. We were allowed to store our luggage for several hours after our check out, till we depart from the city. In overall, we are very pleased with Oca Oriental hotel and we will definitely choose it again , upon our return in beatuiful Porto.

Breakfast was adequate but not as good as other hotels we have stayed at. The menu for lunch/evening was ok but lacked choice overall. Staff in the restaurant and bar were friendly, helpful and attentive, particularly Alexander who could not do enough for us. The bar was well stocked with all our favourite drinks. Our room was immaculate, comfortable and quiet. Good room size and balcony looking out over east Porto. The hotel was within walking distance of the centre of Porto (about 30 mins), good restaurants were available within 1km (15 min walk) and one of Porto's main train stations (Campanha) within a 5 min walk which was great for our trip from Lisbon to Porto and other sightseeing trips to Braga and Guimaraes. The nearest Porto metro station, Heroismo, is a few minutes walk from the hotel. For those who don't want to walk there is a taxi call point in reception. The hotel arranged our final taxi trip to the airport which was good value for money. There is a little park within a 10 min walk (Aguas do Porto) full of trees and interesting fountains and a great view over the Douro. The 207 bus stops almost outside the hotel and can take you into central Porto or as far as Foz.

I pre-checked in three hours early and then went out. I came back one hour before official check-in time and watched while many other travellers came in, registered, and were allowed to check into their rooms. I asked why my room wasn’t ready and they said it was just being done. I feel that given I’m a solo, older traveller and was there three hours earlier, they could have actually made my room a priority and not the last room to clean in the day. As it turns out, I did not get into my room until the dot of 2 PM, which is stated check in time. The staff did not show any friendliness towards me around this, indeed they were bordering on rude. The breakfast was disappointing. I stayed in a 3-star hotel in Setubál, which had a far superior breakfast and much friendlier staff. Yes, the room was clean and comfortable, but that is not the whole of staying in a 4-star hotel.

We arrived having booked two rooms for myself and my wife, the other room for my wife's brother, whom we were visiting for the first time in five years that he had lived in Portugal. He could not make it due to his concern over the fires that were raging in close proximity to his house. Both staff members who were on reception (Joanne) were sympathetic and said they would see if we could cancel his room without charge due to the situation . The manager duly agreed and waivered the charge. We also had a room upgraded due to my room request being unavailable. We were very grateful, and the room was superb. Breakfast was fabulous, lots to choose from. We had dinner on our second night, which again was superb. All staff were always smiling and asking if everything was alright with our stay. Check in and out a breeze. Would definitely stay again if I visit Porto.

The hotel location is very good, just a few minutes by walk from a metro station which takes you to the center in just about 10 minutes & the train station is located at the same place so you can get easily to other places in Portugal (we took the train to Lisbon from that station). The breakfast was good enough and all the staff at the hotel are very kind and helpful. There are some nice shops and restaurants near the hotel & generally it's a very quiet place. The room was big enough & the bed was very comfortable. The hotel has also a very nice bar & generally looks very new and clean.
